How Original LipSense color holds

How Original LipSense color holds
no. 01How Original LipSense color holds

for the marketer

Original LipSense wears like a flexible second skin: thin color bonds to the lip surface instead of sliding around on top.

for the professional

Original LipSense Long-Lasting Liquid Lip Color is built in thin passes. Cosmetic alcohol carries the pigment, flashes away as each pass dries, and leaves a flexible color film on the lip surface. The result is color designed to resist transfer while Moisturizing Gloss keeps the finished system comfortable.

for the skintellectual

The hero technology is the Permeable Polymer Matrix. As SD Alcohol 40-B evaporates, polymer and pigment settle into a flexible grid on the lip surface. The openings in that grid let conditioning ingredients from the shea-butter gloss move through while the larger pigment particles remain held in the color film. That is the mechanism: evaporation builds the film; permeability lets the care step keep working through it.

Color, Gloss, and Remover

Color, Gloss, and Remover

for the marketer

Three pieces, one complete system: Color builds it. Gloss completes it. Remover releases it.

for the professional

The Original LipSense system pairs Original LipSense Liquid Lip Color, LipSense Moisturizing Gloss, and Ooops! Remover. Color creates the long-wear film. Gloss seals away tack and delivers the conditioning layer. Remover softens the bond so color lifts without aggressive rubbing.

for the skintellectual

Each piece solves a different phase of wear. The color film supplies adhesion and pigment placement. The gloss adds slip, comfort, and Shea Butter care without disrupting that film. The dedicated remover reverses the system at the end of the day. Treating the three as one architecture is what makes application, wear, and removal feel effortless.

Apply Original LipSense in five steps

Apply Original LipSense in five steps

for the marketer

Clean lips → Shake horizontally → Apply 3 thin layers → Allow to dry between layers → Seal with gloss

for the professional

Make every pass whisper-thin and keep the applicator moving in one direction. Give each layer about 5 seconds to set before the next. Thick color is more likely to lift; thin, dry layers build an even film. Finish only after the third color pass is dry, then add Gloss for comfort and slip.

for the skintellectual

Each pause lets the volatile carrier flash away before fresh color arrives. That keeps the polymer-and-pigment film even instead of trapping wet formula under a heavy coat. The final Gloss step is functional: it conditions through the permeable color film and removes the dry tack that remains after the third pass.

The one wear range to remember

The one wear range to remember

for the marketer

Long wear means fewer color interruptions. Prep it well, build thin layers, and let the system stay with the day.

for the professional

Wear moves within a range because lip condition, surface prep, layer thickness, dry time, food, drink, and oils all change the challenge placed on the film. Coach the technique first. A Gloss refresh preserves comfort without replacing the color underneath.

Remove the bond without scrubbing

End the day as cleanly as you started it: soften the color, let it release, then wipe gently.

for the professional

Coat the worn color with the dedicated remover and give it a moment to soften the film. Wipe with a clean cotton round or color-removing wipe; repeat on any residue. Finish by cleansing the lip area. The goal is chemical release, not friction.

for the skintellectual

Long-wear polymers are designed to resist water and routine contact, so water alone is a poor removal tool. The dedicated remover moves into the film, reduces its cohesion, and releases pigment from the lip surface. That turns removal from abrasion into a controlled reversal of the same adhesion that made the color last.

Turn the system into a color wardrobe

Once the system is set, color becomes play. Choose the undertone, change the order, design the finish.

for the professional

Continue to [How to layer Original LipSense shades](/learn/product-basics/lipsense-layered-color) for the creative step. It brings undertone, named cool and warm stacks, and finish choices into one concise color guide without changing the application you already know.

for the skintellectual

Every creative look still rests on the same Color-plus-Gloss foundation. Build and remove that system correctly, then use the linked guide to see how pigment position and surface finish shape what the eye reads and turn those choices into a repeatable shade wardrobe.
